3M™ 5P71 Particulate Pre-Filter (P95) – 5 Pair
3M™ 5P71 Particulate Pre-Filters are designed to provide reliable P95-level particulate filtration when used with compatible 3M™ respirators. These pre-filters help capture airborne particles such as dust, insulation fibers, and other non-oil and oil-based particulates commonly encountered during crawl space and construction work.
In simple terms: These are replaceable dust pre-filters that attach to a respirator to help protect your lungs and extend the life of primary cartridges.
The 5P71 pre-filters are commonly used in crawl space environments where airborne debris, mold spores, and fine particles may be present. When paired with appropriate 3M™ cartridges and respirators, they help improve breathing comfort and reduce filter change frequency.
Important Usage Information
This product is not a standalone respirator. The 3M™ 5P71 pre-filters must be used with compatible 3M™ half-face or full-face respirators and require a compatible filter retainer (sold separately).
Key Features & Benefits
- P95 particulate protection: Designed to filter at least 95% of airborne particulates.
- Helps extend cartridge life: Captures particulates before they reach the primary cartridge.
- Lightweight design: Supports easier breathing and user comfort.
- Disposable: Replace when dirty, damaged, or breathing resistance increases.
- Trusted 3M™ quality: Designed to meet applicable NIOSH standards.
Typical Crawl Space Uses
- Dust and debris exposure during crawl space encapsulation

Why It Matters
Crawl spaces often contain airborne contaminants that can impact respiratory health. Using properly rated particulate pre-filters helps reduce exposure and supports safer working conditions during encapsulation, insulation, and maintenance tasks.
